My first DIY project: Christmas tags.

First of all I hope everyone is having...

 a FABULOUS Christmas Eve!!!

I have had this blog for almost 1 year and I FINALLY have an original DIY project that I can post about!
So this year I was horribly disorganized. I mean it is bad.... I am sending out New Years cards and they wont even get here by new years. So they will get them after the actual holiday... pathetic.

BUT in my disorganization... creativity sprang. I had the wrapping paper and jacked a bunch of ribbon from my store... but i forgot to buy gift tags!!! This year I bought a lot of little things for my family members rather than one big gift for each. I kept finding special things that each of them would love, but they were on the inexpensive side! So I bought them each around 4 fun little gifts. All very sentimental and specific to them.

So when I went to wrap them I figured I would make some gift tags myself! I went through my photo archives and found photos of me and my mother, me and my sister, and me and my father all taken at when we were out to dinner or on vacation. I uploaded them on to picnik.com and photoshopped them into hilarious gift cards.

I had a ton of fun photoshopping them into hilarious christmas pictures...

I picked photos that were sentimental to each of us and then added "flair". Then I saved them on my desktop and opened up a word document. I clicked and dragged the photo, sized it to be around 2.5x2.5 or as close to that as I could. I copied the photo and pasted it to fit 6 on a page.

I then printed the sheets on heavy card stock and cut each out. I punched a hole in the corner of each and strung a 10 inch ribbon through each. I tied them to my wrapped gifts and voila!!

So thats my first DIY project!!! I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday. I am hoping to have a lot more projects in the coming year! We will see how creative I get! :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Christmas Day

(Instead of introducing myself I am going to just go ahead and dive in...)

Name: Megan
Occupation: Its complicated... just call me a Graphic Designer
Age: 25
Family: Mother/Boss Julie, Father Whit, Sister Molly.
Warning: this is not an exciting blog... more an accounting of my life on a daily/weekly basis... could turn out to be incredibly boring.

Its christmas day! We just returned from yet another fabulous holiday trip to San Francisco. Filled with Holiday parties and of course the Ball... This year my sister came out as a deb in San Francisco. I thought it would be cool to watch her go through it as I did 7 YEARS AGO (wow... I am getting up there!), but when she was presented I found myself bawling like a fool.

Our Christmas every year involves this trip to San Francisco along with a lot of other fabulous functions. The benefit of having parties in both San Francisco and Eugene is that you don't have to buy a new outfit for every party. While many people think
that buying this many outfits is ridiculous anyway... lets
be honest... we (ladies) all do it.

Every year upon returning to Oregon from California we go to the Christmas Eve Eve party up at the home of some wonderful family friends of ours. This party is my favorite every year because all of our family friends are together under one roof. Some of the people at this party actually attended my 4th birthday party... It was an absolutely lovely party (both were actually... although one had more pink frosting and the other more vodka!)

This morning we had our christmas day as we always do
... pajama clad and with a slight headache from the amount of wine consumed the night before. This year my family surprised me with a small navy and cream damier canvas Louis Vuitton wallet. This matched a handbag my mother/boss "retired" and had given to me a few months earlier (One of the things I am most thankful for is my mothers taste and the fact she has passed it on to me... along with handbags she gets tired of :) ).

I also got quite a few kitchen goods, cookbooks, a Cuisinart hand blender and several other items from Hartwicks (a local kitchen store in Eugene). I love to cook and had always had in interest in it. A trait that was passed down to me from both my grandmother on my fathers side (Elaine), and also the mother/boss... who before starting her fabulous boutique business came very close to studying at the Cordon Bleu (she is also an amazing photographer... its very hard to keep up with her).
